Asian Art Collage

I decided to partake in the Collage Obsession challenge this week for Asian Art.  I dug through my stash and here is what I came up with.

IMG_0685This is a page in my altered book art journal.  It started with tea bags.

IMG_0679Then some torn scraps of handmade paper.  I wet the paper where I’m going to pull it apart so that the fibers don’t rip, but just separate to give the edge that feathered look.

IMG_0681I then added some Distress Ink (Brushed Corduroy), to give it some dimension.

IMG_0682The background stamp is by Hero Arts.

IMG_0683The other collage elements are from an old art exhibition announcement flier.  I only had pieces of it, so I’m not sure where or who it was.  The saying is supposedly a chinese proverb, according to the internet.

The coins were in my stash, sorry, not sure where I obtained them. They can be found at any big box hobby retailer.

Thanks for stopping by.

Thank you for showing your technique. The piece itself is very interesting to look at, but seeing it come into being is, too. I haven’t tried altering books yet, but now you’ve got me thinking….
