I love mushrooms and there aren’t a lot of mushroom themed products out there so I ended up making my own in todays project – the Sunday Postcard Art Challenge of mushrooms and toadstools.
This was very complicated card. I think I was experimenting more than anything. I started with an embossed card using Tim Holtz Rays embossing folder. I adhered the card along with crinkled tissue paper to a base card. I then used my home-made stencils to color the toadstools with Tim Holtz Distress Paint. I outlined the toadstools with a sharpie and added dimension with Inktense pencils. The whole thing was then given a coat of Pan Pastels of green and blue (after preparing the surface with some absorbent ground). I then added the stamps with Stazon ink. The trees and grass stamps are by Judith and the butterfly and worm are by Fiskars. The words are Hero Arts.
I decided to do a second one with different techniques and products.
This one was done with Golden paint instead of the Distress paint. I had a hard time figuring out how to tame the colors down. I ended up using oil pastels for the shading, which didn’t work as I wanted them to. The tree was The Crafters Workshop stencil used with Liquitex Blended Fibers medium mixed with some paint. The mouse was a stamp from blockheadstamps.com, the leaves are Stampendous. Some shading was done with Pan Pastels. The dots and mouse are colored using Sakura pens.
I have a third in the works using Golden Glass Bead Gel and my home made stencils – but it isn’t finished. I’ll load it later. Thanks for stopping by!
