WCMD Card #1

Today is World Card Making Day, and here is my first one of the day.  Ok, so I started it several days ago, but it is a huge step for me as it is my very first that contains my own original art.  My poor mother is rolling over in her grave right now!  Sorry mom.  And I’m sure there is a collective groan from those that collect and love her art work.  Thankfully for them, no one follows this blog.  Ha!  Ok, back to the subject at hand.

On the card I used embossing paste with the Dot Fade Tim Holtz stencil and then covered it with various distress inks and a few water splashes.

The background of the hummingbird was sprayed ink on watercolor paper using a Donna Downy Floral stencil by Prima.  Unfortunately I believe this stencil has been discontinued, as I can’t find it anywhere.  I went over the flowers with some watercolor pencils to enhance them a bit.  The yellow centers are also watercolor pencil as well as the green bits.  The hummingbird is done in Twinkling H2Os.  The beak and eye are Rangers black enamel.  I highlighted it with Pan Pastels, which worked a lot better than I would have ever expected!

This little guy has been visiting me all summer, well, at least his wife has been.

She has claimed ownership of our back porch and loves the camera!  She even tasted it at one point during this photo shoot.
