Halloween Mini 2013

This mini album was a designers challenge at Scraps of Darkness.  The cover was made with some scraps from an experiment I did a few months back with joint compound.  I describe the technique in my post Leather Book Cover ATC.  After covering a piece of cloth in joint compound I stained it and then added a coat of Matte Mod Podge.  After that dried overnight,  I then highlighted the texture with blue Rubnbuff.

I kept the inside pretty simple.  I just added some fabulous Halloween themed paper from various companies including:  Me & My Big Ideas, Echo Park, Kaiser Craft, My Mind’s Eye, American Crafts, Teresa Collins and Basic Grey.  Yes, I love Halloween!

Because this book was supposed to mimic a witches potions journal, I inserted some wonderful nature themed paper from K & Company.

I think the stamps are from My Mind’s Eye.

A few more picture of the inside – by now you get the idea.  It still needs some more tags and embellishments added.

The back was made with Golden Clear Tar Gel on canvas.  I was delighted by the effect when I sprayed the ink and it starting to pool in each reservoir created by the Tar Gel.  The effect was to make some areas very dark and others lighter.  The Tar Gel acts as a resist, so I was able to wipe any ink off of the web itself easily.

The metal embellishments are Tim Holtz by Idea-ology.  Pong had to model for you again this time.

Have a wonderful week!
