December Tag

Here is my take on the Tim Holtz December tag.

To my surprise I had everything to do this technique this month.  As Tim instructs in his blog, I layered the Frosted Film on top of a sheet of clear “modeling film” from Clearly for Art by Stampers Anonymous.  As I cut it and worked with it I couldn’t help but wonder what the difference was between this plastic and any other plastic sheet from packaging.  So I grabbed the last plastic box that my Fitbit came in and took the heat gun to it.  And guess what happened.  It reacted exactly like the “modeling film”.  I’ve been hoarding plastic sheets forever to use for homemade stencils and now I have another use.  Bonus!

DSC_0001_3The paper I used for the dress is by My Minds Eye.  I inked the edges of the wings with Cateye before I heated and molded them into the shape I liked.DSC_0003_3The background was done with Distress Stain.  DSC_0008I adhered the butterflies with Matt Accents by Ranger (discontinued).  The wings I stapled together with the Tiny Attacher and then hot glued them to the tag.  DSC_0001

Tim has some fancy tool to add splatters to his beautiful tag.  I used a tooth brush and some gesso.  DSC_0008_2Here’s to wishing you all a very happy holiday!  If you’re like me and are not a fan of the holidays, don’t despair – it will be over before you know it.
