Happy Father’s Day

DSC_0009Happy Father’s Day all you Dads out there.  Every year I make my Dad a card and this year is no exception.  I want the card to be timeless and displayed all year, so I kept the front free of words and put the sentiment on the inside.  DSC_0012 I used some old and some new creating this card.  I reached into my stash for the encaustic tile on the front.  You may recognize it from a past post.  The background started with a blank piece of mixed media paper with torn strips of an old poetry book adhered to it.  DSC_0006I then used one of my favorite stencils from the Crafters Workshop, Mini Cubist, with some modeling paste.  I let that dry overnight and sprayed it with a couple of my favorite colors from my limited selection of Lindy’s Stamp Gang inks, Red Hot Poker Orange and Jack in the Pulpit Teal.  Isn’t that orange awesome?!  DSC_0004I really like the shimmer.  It makes the piece change depending on the light.DSC_0002DSC_0007And I love how the mica powders gather around the raised areas.DSC_0005Of course I can’t go without entering a couple of wonderful challenges.  The good people over at Simon Wednesday Challenge Blog are inspiring this week with “Stencil It” – and so I did.  And the gals over at Our Creative Corner are burning it with “Orange”.  A color that I have recently decided that I have neglected for way too long!  Again – all you fathers have a wonderful day/week/year.  Thanks for stopping by!
