Summer Home

SATW 6 2014 JUNE 2014 SATWHere is the mood board from the gals over at Scrap Around The World.  I’ve decided to play along this month because, not only was I inspired by the vibrant yellow in this months mood board, but also the picture of the lonely house on the hill lost in the wave of dandelions.  Here is my version.DSC_0012I have a happier take on the scene, don’t you think?  But a couple of other influences are at work here besides just the mood board.  I also just happened to receive my copy of this months Cloth Paper Scissors magazine which contained a wonderful article by Tammy Northrup: Create a Flower Garden.  I couldn’t wait to use her technique on my 8″x11″ canvas!  First I did a little practicing on watercolor paper.  DSC_0002I wanted more of a mixed media look and feel so I added some old sheet music and a chipboard house from my stash to the background, and added some color with Gelatos and watercolor.DSC_0004The window and door have construction paper behind them for color.  I added more texture with some tissue paper and painted it my background color.DSC_0005Then the fun started!  Spatters!DSC_0008Layers and layers of acrylic paint! I think the good people over at Craft Hoarders Anonymous would be proud since this months challenge is Spray it! Ink it! PAINT IT! Emboss it! (emphasis added).  So I’ve decided to play along with them as well this month.  Now that I have the green laid down, it is time for the yellow.DSC_0009I love the edge of the canvas and my table here.  I still haven’t cleaned my table.  I may leave it that way.  I topped the painting off with white highlights and some puff balls.  The stencil I used here was from a scrapbooking kit club I belonged to years ago that is no longer in business.  DSC_0015I painted the puff balls with some green interference to give a little shimmer.DSC_0013DSC_0019DSC_0021Thanks for stopping by!
