Sam-bert Journal Page

I love the cartoon strip Dilbert.  I live in the corporate cubed world in real life and Scott Adams captures it so well.  With this journal page, I pay my respects to his art form and in particular this strip which hung in my cube for several months.  The strip I cut out and used is from the yearly desk calendar that I buy faithfully every year.  The background texture was made by layering drywall tape and square pieces of card stock. DSC_0001After adding a layer of gesso and taping off some random squares, I used Gouache (which, according to Wikipedia is a common medium used by comic artists) to add some blue color and some Gelato to add the purple.DSC_0002 I drew an image of what I would look like from Scott Adam’s point of view, cut it out and glued it down on top.  The letters are chipboard with a couple of coats of black embossing.  DSC_0016  It makes me giggle every time I look at it, and yes – I truly relate to it, especially this past year.DSC_0001Thanks for stopping by and I hope Scott Adam’s and team have a sense of humor and don’t force me to take this down due to some crazy rights infringement or something!  Now wouldn’t that be a real laugh!  Ha!

About Sam

A lover of crafts and art trapped in the mind of an accountant. My dream is to someday be set free of the cubicle prison. Meanwhile, I craft and I create to set my mind free.
